Gracie Barra Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for Women
As a dominant subset of the fastest growing sport in the world, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has gained in popularity and acceptance as a viable real world martial art and self-defense for women of all ages and backgrounds.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is considered to be the best form of real self defense against a rape attack. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu works because of body mechanics, not strength. During most attacks on women, a victim will end up in a bottom position (ground). But in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, this is considered a very favorable position to effectively attack and finish (submit) or physically incapacitate the aggressor.
Size and strength are limited factors in properly executing effective Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu technique. Often an opponent or assailant is larger and stronger. Strikes and kicks as a defense mechanism for women is minimized on the ground which is usually where the attacker will carry out their assault.
Utilizing Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu defense techniques, we will teach you how to control, subdue, and submit (or render harmless) a larger and often stronger attacker - without striking!
